“Upswings in wellness obsessions or lifestyle modifications often emerge when there’s a collective sense that the world has spun out of control.”
-Ezekiel J. Emanuel, MD
I haven’t read Eat Your Ice Cream yet, but I skimmed it the other day at one of my favorite Milwaukee spots, Boswell Books. The advice is refreshingly simple, and that quote nails it.
Here’s my quick takeaway: when the world feels hectic, simplify what you can control. For me, one of those things is lunch. If I don’t have a meeting or plans, I eat oatmeal - and I’ve stuck with that for years. Not glamorous, but it works. My cholesterol is down, my energy’s up, and it’s one less decision to stress about.
So here’s today’s actionable insight: don’t overcomplicate it. Eat your ice cream (or, better yet, some good Milwaukee custard), but make sure most of what you consume is real food. But leave space for small joys — like ice cream.
